Session 9: Copyright for e-Learning and Managing and Learning an e-Learning Organization

Copyright is law itself is consider as a document in a continuous state of change that may have in other people work. (Copyright is an issue you need to consider seriously when creating any online teaching materials. The LSE has produced a Short Guide to Copyright for Academic Staff which you are advised to consult. Although you are creating a course within Model, which is a closed environment for your students, you still need to consider carefully the resources you are using and take care not to infringe other people’s copyright. If you have any doubts about whether you need copyright for a particular item it is always best to check first. CLT offer face to face copyright training (visit the courses, workshops and events webpage for available dates) and have also developed an online course called Copyright, the internet and teaching online (available in Model - LSE only))link.

The e learning support the legal and right of any person who work or study in colleges and other learning organization to save his work by giving him Copyright protection is so important to protect any author work against anyone how try to take any body hard work. The first legal copy right protection was happen in 15th –century.(298)book. The first copyright legislation in the united state was enacted by congress in 1790.(298) the copy right is new concept in the united state. it provide by the law to save any one work .for example in my university CSUSB in order to do my thesis I have to complete and take an IRB exam this exam is all about protect other people protection and their work against any violation and after I complete that exam I have to signed at the end of the exam to show the university faculty that I am a good student who respect other people right understanding other people need to work in confident way if they now there work will be save. In order to be a good student we have to know the background to copyright and e-learning, support multimedia in e learning , in the learning technology and emerging digital environment of Web 2.0 and training and supporting for faculty , instructional design staff ,distance education study, printed material ,user training, video, electronic mail other internet resources, photographs and digital images, multimedia student and faculty and any work in the education environment.
• According to the book the (one critical condition thus exist before copyright protection. first, copy write applies to work of authorship representing the tangible expression of idea, requiring originality and some degree of creativity).

Session 8: Effective Assessment for e-Learning

1.You will develop two or three assessment activities/measures for the course you hypothetically developed in Session 5. Refer to the assigned readings, especially the table “Selecting appropriate assessment measures” in the textbook, page 285. Also incorporate assessment strategies of learning that you experienced/used as a teacher and a student and that you think them as effective methods. Post your answer to this in your blog.



Online Network (2005, 1) noted that“ effective online instruction depends on learning experiences appropriately designed and facilitated by knowledgeable educators."(Gaytan,Jorge&McEwen,Beryl)(p1) my assessment is about develop student skills and knowledge by provide them useful tools of technology. The good online assessment project requires interdependent work by student it will result in positive outcome in social interaction.(283)book.
My first assessment will be synchronous student communication
In my course I will try to do my best to communicate with my student all the time by provide them with the syllables at the first day to know my office hour if they need face to face meeting or by use skype to shat with my student about the course . I will let my student explore the new technology tools at the beginning and try to be flexible with my course if they need to learn a new technique and try to solve any problem may my student face it by make them try to solve it at the beginning.

The course will depend on Discussion ,and other thing beside that. I want to learn new things statement, Investigations, Problem Solving Activities, Response Groups, Self-Evaluations at the end of the course.
This course will depend on immediate feedback while I am using sharing tools like skype.
Quick feed back make the student communicate with each other all the time in this kind of situation because this type of chatting tools make student know each other and welling to learned from each other to.
My second goal will be give student new assignment to do each week. There will be no testing the score will depend on the work that the student made. because I am one of the student who don’t recommend to give exam to other student because I know how much the student scare from the word exam and it well be not far to evaluate student just from the exam side but if we evaluate the student from deferent way like how to develop his assignment and the way student communicate with other will be better choice.
Second assessment develop a portfolio.
The student will conduct all his best work through the quarter and presented in his blog at the end of the quarter. The goal of this class to built the skills and make student feel proud about them self according to the book(self reflection leading student to develop of stander, and determination of criteria to use in selecting these materials are integral component of this work.)book( p276) this kind of strategy are useful for online student because it show how the student are connected to the course in perfect way .
One of the objective for this course. The grad will depend on the design creation of product.
When the student develop a good blog design that has no error and unique at the same time will earn more extra credit that will add to the student grad.
Second objective there will be a discussion each week between the teacher and the student about the course material

EDUCE 102 is one of the elective courses in Education Media Technology the program. This course emphasizes creating work in the field of Education Media Technology. It is designed to assist students in their teaching field . First, develop an understanding of using one of internet elements, creating blogs related to the use of technology in education .Second, understand how to developing their blogs and know how to post their assignment first and second week .finally they have to evaluate the course and take the optional final quiz if they want to see how the subject were useful for all of students .

Effective Instructional Methods for e-Learning

Hearing and Visual learning style

It is better to include in our learning style some written information, diagrams, pictures and imagination these elements make class interesting for student to learn any kind of information especially when the class include discussions and conversations between the teacher and learner but in order the communication be effective (the student will need to know how to respond in class or to post responses in the correct forum and ask question)(text,p170)

describe your own learning styles. In order to help yourself better function in an online course (e.g. this course), what would you keep or change in terms of the course design and your participation style/pattern?

I like to see and listen to the lecture at the same time in any course and take a part of the class by asking question, I tried to do my best in any class by taking outline and highlight any important information from the book. I prefer to read the chapter that we are going to take before the lecture start. During the lecture if I face any kind of not clear information, I always write down what I miss understand then at the end of the lecture I will ask my teacher what did I misunderstand from the lecture and let my teacher explain to me. When I study new information I ask myself where I can use this kind of information and try imagine how could I implement this kind of information in my life by using my imagination Some time in any of my on line class I have problem with the voice and picture because of the internet speed. I always try to find a solution and try to communicate with my teacher and formed them that I have a problem. I don’t like some program that has a lot of requirement for example like down loud certain program some time the computer that I have does not except this kind of the program. Then there are programs that require having headset and phone in order listen to the lecture like( dimdim ) this kind of program I did not prefer because of that requirement thing I like to listen to my lecture without having any distraction . I like the program that has the recording tools that mean I can go back to the lecture and listen over and over to the lecture.

student characteristics.

Student are taking online class are mostly know little things about using computer. The successful online class that focus in student need and make them confident on the course material this type of class make student more independent on them self ,tools and skils (student responsible for their learning in distance learning. (Dohhagh&Bannan-Ritland 2005)(text.p168)

Classroom management

It is not easy to manage online class or normal class. It require a lot of knowledge from the teacher. I will try to mange my lecture during the class time and give them all the information they need. Answer all student questions .in my online class i will ask my student several question that related to the lecture. Also, I will try to control my student behavior in the class by let them do many kind of activity like answer my question ,give me there comment and advice. I will communicate wit my student by using e mail ,give them syllabus , survey and using any chat program

List one specific learning objective you want to include in your online course and describe how you would design your class activities using one or multiple instructional strategies (e.g. problem centered learning, simulation, decision-making panels, class discussion, case studies, group discussion, tutorial, written exercises, reading, instructional gaming, exploration) to help your students meet the learning objective?

I would like to teach my student how to communicate with each other in effective way. during the online class time. I would like my student to generate there idea about the subject that they are taking and try to develop their skills I will give them all what they need like the syllabus, schedule ,show them grating system, home work assignments and chatting links for my class. The grading system will depend on each student work on this class and how he or she can done their work in perfect way. Each session is worth amount of points. Each student has to submit their work before the due date. This on line class will include information that I will create for this course that has all the information policy for turning over their assignment. Also I will create format that each student have to fallow it for each session. There will be lest of home work that I will create that student have to answer it after they read the format and question of the home work. Everything that I have talked about so far , each student submit their home work has to comment on other friend in effective way . also i will make my student e mail me if they have any question.

Instruction Design

creating an on line class is very demanding because its require hard working all the time. It is not easy to create an on line class because develop on line learning content is complicated thing I will provide organized and particular task by using the ADDIE in this class in this class I will teach the learner how to make bloges step by step .
Analysis

I would like to create a good course and then try to deliver my online course so that I can make it easy for my student in this program. Before start my course I will try to do like survey to know if the learner has back ground and experience on dealing of any kind of technology tools especially blog the topic that I will give to them .Also, what the learner want to achieve in this course that match there need in their daily lif. After I get all the feedback from the survey, I will start to built a good course material that depend on their answer . I will know what kind of problem that may learner have difficult on it.

The goal and objectives.

My goal is to teach the learner how to create a blog. The course will be totally on line
learner can do their blog in easy way without facing any problem and I will recommended several free blogs that my student can register on it like WordPress, Blogger, and TypeBad. These blogs are easy to explore and show them the steps of how to use Typebad. I want my course to focus on what student want to learn more than anything else.
Learner will choose and create their blog.
learner will develop do a lot of research on how to make a good blog
Learner will post everything that they want in their blog
Learner will comment on each other work.
Delivery option
The course will be on line course and I will provide my student with links that I think is useful
The student can communicate with me through e mail or by skype.
Time line
The course will be design in 3 week .
It will depend on how much my student understand and master the new skills and feel comfortable with these new tools.
Each student should post there assignment before midnight

Design:

In this class I will focus on develop my student skills to make them satisfy on my on line program which to teach them how to create blogs. I will create web site. This blog program only my student can use it . I will pose my assignment in this blog every week . Also, at the end of each section there will be few questions that related to the home work that student must answer it and post it to my blog. In my web site . Each student can communicate by comment with each other blogs . I will evaluate each student by the end of each section .

Development

I will try to update my on line class to reach what student want to success
I will focus on the feedback from each student and look after the learner work carefully
I will make student to give me suggestion on the best strategy to deal with them in this course.
All the communication style will depend on having high speed internet.
Implementation:

I will test my material and my resources frequently and try to communicate with my learner and teacher to instruct a good material.
Evaluation

I will evaluate all the work that I have done on my design, development and implementation with it at the end of my class after I make sure that the learner had been understand all the material perfectly.
At the end of the class I will do another survey to know if my class was useful for my student and what type of correction that I have to make.
The ADDIE process will make me evaluate each step of my course so my course can be useful for my student and my student work and the strategy of the technology that I used.

Today I open the link that dr baek give us for our new session then I read the word web 2.0. Then I start thinking what that word mean is it a kind of new technology that we did deal with it before. after that I tried to search the meaning of web 2 in the google. Then I realized I was wrong this tools I have been deal with it before, with this tool I can develop my learning style and dealing and sharing with everybody I know my idea, information, picture and project design.

I look over many definition of web 2.0 and what does it mean in (Media coverage of Web 2.0 concentrates on the common applications/services such as blogs, video ,sharing, social networking and podcasting—a more socially connected Web in which people can contribute as much as they can consume. What benefit of use web 2.0?

We can do a lot using this kind of great technology that I have been deal with :
We can have many friend from all over the world and sharing my opinions and information with them in any topic that I or any person provide by using (face book).
In the university side we can sharing our knowledge , experience, information by using (blackboard ),(blog),sharing our URL website.
We can sharing and see each other video or new video by using (youtube).
We can shat with each other and see each other by using (skype).

HOW I am and my friend use web 2.0?

This tools is so unique because true this tools I can communicate with anybody from different part of the world, I always communicate with my family and friend that I miss so much by using skype and facebook. When I use skype i try to look at them and know what is going on with them. I try to reach my family every day especially my parents and try to share my feeling with them. my parents are not familiar with using skype or face book because they always try to communicate with me by using there phone but know when I am far of them they try to make there phone coast less ,than they decided to call me and see me at the same time true skpe. My friend and family always see my picture that I post on my face book and write nice comment under each picture witch make me feel how much they care abut me .More over, some time I like to hear Arabic music Then I log in to (youtube) and hear any kind of song or see any kind of funny video that make me happy.

Colleagues:

In the university we always share our information with our friend by using blog and comment on each other work this thing give me a good Idea to start and know what should I write about if I don’t understand what should I do in my new home work. some time if I don’t understand any point of our lecture or home work I can send an e mail to the doctor or my friend and they give a quick feed back.
My favorite part Most of the time the doctor meet us and my friend true communication tools like(dimdim) ,(talkshoe) and (skype).

Web 2.0 and education learning system.

Web tools is a good things in any kind of education system is make the education material active and motivate student to share there idea no mater what they are
This new media is not expensive ,not difficult ,you can communicate with any body all over the world and share your work. This new tools give student explore to learn a new technology to create any goo website and post there idea picture and updated all the time.

Week 3 - Clark vs. Kozma
A new media is the term that use to discussion of the new technologies active program and it is include the appearance of digital, programmed, or networked information and communication technologies.(Wikipedia define) I am agree with Kozmas about his point of view about his view of media .These media are eminent by relevant characteristics of their technologies, systems, and processing capability. The new technology go with Kozmas argument how the media effect learning In positive way that all depend upon the instructional methods employed by the design(Hasting N& Tracey M).Moreover ,how does the computer motivate the student to learn more about the content that things will increasing the amount of time to learn using this tools(Kozma,1991,1994).the goal of distance education programs is to make education more student centered through the prepackaging of instructional materials that students may use when convenient(Simonson, Smaldino, Albright, and Zvacek ,2009)(p.80)learning with media make learning more easy to study by using deferent type of tools example Email, , Podcast, Wiki, Facebook , Youtube, Teachertube and web site, Skype and blackboard, etc .the different kind of media will affect the education system in positive way and motivate student to study and think in creative way . this media will help the education environment to have more online class like video conferences that does not require face to face meeting.

My previous experiences with these new media is many . it is began when I begin to study in ETEC program .its start when I took my first class which is ETEC 500 in this program ,I learned how to create a web site. In my first class I faced some problems because I don’t know how to create web site . It was my first time that ideal with new technology, but now it become more easy because I know how to use and create web site. My second great experience is ETEC 676 class . I learned how to create a blog which is so interesting because it is my first time that I deal with blog. I start to comment on other people work at that class. I was so happy because I learned how to post my assignment in and I learned how correct my work and do all my things in good way

Summary of dimdim program:

i like how doctor BAEK describe the meaning of distance education and e learning. the way that she answer the question of the student was so nice. She also discuss the meaning of distance education that depend on time and place.



definition of e-Learning

E-learning involves the use of a computer and it include electronic device in education or any place that require training in any place

The reason for different definitions of distance education:

It has many and deferent meaning that depend on the place and reason behind using material of e learning will provide in . education, company etc. distance mean geographical distance, time distance and a possibly even intellectual distance “tremendous variety of programs serving numerous audiences via a wide variety of media" (Simonson, Smaldino, Albright, Zvacek, 2009, p. 9).
it depend on time and place that compensation result in four things in education which are same time ,same place education. 2-Different time same place. 3-same time different place in education.4- Different time and different place


My experience with DIMDIM program:

Dimdim program is so unique and I really enjoy it .it is different from skype and talkshoe There is no limit to the number of attendees or meetings because this program can fit all student . It has different kind of things that offer in this program. First the instructors can view her text course in the screen and all students can discuss every point with her. Second things the instructor can chat with each student individual and also look at the student at the same time by using the web camera . also the student who don’t have a camera can call the instructor by using phone . this serves does not require any kind of fee or to register In this program you just have to pot any name then you will log in. the instructor can record her lecture for her student so all student can listen to it.

The strengths and weaknesses of skype and Talkshoe :

Talkshoe and skype is good program they don’t require any kind of fee. But they required to register at the program. The software in talkshoe program allows hosts to start or stop the recording of their podcast any time ,but skype does not offer like this kind of thing. Also, talkshoe allowed may student to log in any chat as a guest but skype will not alow any stranger to the shat room. talkshoe offer telephone number that we can contact with the instructors of the course when it start but skype does offer that. Talksoe and skype does not offer like video came or showing text in the screen .


trends in e-learning/distance education in your work place:

i didn’t use this technology in my work place at school. I plan to use it if I become a teacher and provide my student with computer and e learning material that make my class so unique and all my student will like it and they will enjoy charring there experience with other student from all over the world

Greetings,

My name is Amal Alsubki. I am from Saudi Arabia. I came to the USA to learn how to develop and create a web site and how to use it while I teach at school. I want my student to have a lot of information that can help them to succeed in their own life.

Now I try to take many classes to develop my technology teaching skills. For example, I took the500 class I learned a lot of technology skills, like creating my own web site that has a lot of link on it .Also, search for information by using web site or library.I hope to learn how to make a good website that everybody can share with me there information, picture and hopes.

Online learning is about how to connected and share information with other people in the same time but in different places. On line technology is depend on E-mail, video and sharing learning between teachers and student. Online technology is not complicated as I thought before. This technology gives the opportunity to a lot of people to learn from different places at the same time. This technology has many features like using information from the web site or library at the same time. This technology is considering one of the fast communication techniques of learning.
